Magic uses a nonlinear paradigm which contrasts significantly with the linear thinking common for the last five hundred years. Major areas of modern life, including commerce and social structures, have been dominated by linear assumptions, but recent re-understandings of math and science are opening the way to an increase in nonlinear thinking. This presentation discusses historical examples and highlights connections between magic and current developments in nonlinearity.
